What you'll study
Students will be taught by two A level Chemistry specialists across year 12 and 13. In year 12 students will learn about the Foundations in Chemistry, Periodic table and energy, Core organic Chemistry as well as the development of practical skills. In Year 13, students will continue this programme, studying Periodic table, elements and Physical Chemistry. They will also study synthesis and analytical techniques alongside the Practical Endorsement in chemistry.
Chemistry has plenty of opportunity to complete practical work which inspires students, and helps make sense of the world around them.

Chemistry is a popular course at St Peter’s Sixth Form. It is a practical based subject where students will have a chance to learn about the world around them. Chemistry is a course that is applicable to many University courses which include Medicine, Veterinary courses and Chemical Engineering. You will be able to develop a range of skills, such a problem-solving and practical skills. Students will have opportunity to develop their mathematical skills to solve problems and be introduced to modern techniques which are used across Chemistry.
Note: Module 1 (Development of Practical Skills in Chemistry) is embedded throughout the course.
